Speaking at a recent event, Donald Trump dismissed suggestions that he has “ceded the presidency” to Elon Musk, calling the idea a “hoax” and a creation of his political opponents. He also joked that Musk could not be president because he was not born in the United States.
The relationship between Trump and Musk has been closely watched due to Musk’s significant role in the 2024 election and his subsequent appointment to lead the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), a non-governmental advisory commission aimed at reducing federal spending. Musk was the largest individual donor to Trump’s campaign, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars.
However, their alliance has also been marked by public disagreements. Most notably, a dispute erupted over a major spending bill, which Musk publicly criticized, leading to a feud that played out on social media. Despite this, the two recently reunited at a memorial service, signaling a potential thaw in their relationship.
